New appointment signposting toolkit

We are pleased to inform you that we will shortly be implementing the use of a new digital resource to assist our reception team with the management of calls and enquiries to the practice.

The GP Practice Telephone Signposting Toolkit will help our reception team guide you to the right care quickly and efficiently, by providing them with clear information in order to direct you to the best healthcare professional to deal with your specific needs.

The toolkit has been pre-populated by Dr Andrew Sewell with a directory of medical issues along with a signpost to the most appropriate course of action to be taken for that issue, whether that be a face to face appointment, a telephone call or signposting to one of the many other healthcare resources available for you to self-refer to (physiotherapy, pharmacy, Health In Mind, etc).

When you call, our trained staff will ask a few brief questions to understand your needs. This allows them to direct you to the most appropriate service, such as a GP, nurse, pharmacist, or another healthcare professional. It ensures you get the right help, at the right time, from the right person. All information you share is confidential. This approach will help to reduce wait times, improve access for everyone in our community and ensure you get the most appropriate care.

During this time of change and during all communications with the practice, we kindly ask that you are patient, polite and respectful towards our team members at all times. This short film shows the complexity of the calls they have to take: “The Call I just took”

Thank you for your ongoing support.
