Prescriptions/Dispensary

If you are on continuous medication authorised by your doctor, you can order a repeat prescription.

To order a repeat prescription

Your prescription will be ready for collection in 4 working days after your order has been received. Only order a repeat prescription if you have less than 7 days of medication remaining. If you run out of your medication, we will aim to process it quicker, provided we have site to process the quest and a GP available to sign. Please contact our Dispensary Team.

Dispensary

We have an on-site dispensary at Oldwood Surgery and can dispense medication to patients that live over 1 mile from a pharmacy. This map shows the eligible locations. Prescriptions issued on the day of a consultation will normally be ready to take home within a few minutes of you being seen by the doctor. You can also request your repeat medication to be collected from Oldwood Surgery or Battle Health Centre. Let us know your preferred location when you sign up. Your medication should be ready for collection 4 working days after requested. We are unable to notify you via text message as this service is not available on our patient system.

Non-dispensing patients

If you live within 1 mile of a pharmacy, you are not eligible for us to dispense your medication. We will send your prescription directly to your preferred nominated pharmacy for you to collect from there. Alternatively you can collect your paper prescription from us in person.

Dispensary & Medication queries

NHS.uk provide useful information about medication on their A-Z of medications and FAQ for common medication queries.

For queries about ordering, or any other questions about your medication, please contact our Dispensary Team. They are available Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm on 01580 880790 or via email on sxicb-esx.oldwood.dispensary@nhs.net

Medication reviews

We have a duty to review your health and medicines regularly. We will let you know if you need to make an appointment for a medication review with either our practice nurses or your doctor.

If you need urgent advice about your medication outside our surgery hours, please call NHS 111.

Prescriptions out of hours

If you run out of your medication when we are closed and need some urgently, contact your local pharmacy. They may be able to give you an emergency supply. Alternatively call NHS 111 for advice.
