We provide blood tests at the request of the GP. A blood test is often done to check your health, or to find out why you’re having certain symptoms. It involves having a small amount of your blood taken for testing.
Useful guidance about blood tests
The NHS website gives useful information about blood tests and what to expect – visit Blood tests – NHS (www.nhs.uk)
Getting your blood test results
Blood test results are usually available after a few days. You are required to get your results; we do not routinely contact you. You can get your results by:
- Viewing them online: View test results in your GP health record
- Calling our reception team on 01580 880790
Hospital or specialist blood tests
We are no longer able to provide hospital or specialist blood tests. If you are asked by a hospital Consultant or private health care provider to have a blood test, you will need to book an appointment with either of the phlebotomy teams below:
- Bexhill Diagnostics Centre, 16 Beeching Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex TN39 3LJ; or
- The Conquest Hospital, The Ridge, St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex TN37 7RD
You can book an appointment online by clicking on this link: Phlebotomy (blood tests) – East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (esht.nhs.uk) or by calling 0300 131 5560 (open Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 4.30pm).
Your hospital or private healthcare provider will provide you with a blood test form, which you must take to the appointment, so the phlebotomist knows what tests are required. We cannot provide these forms for you.
