Blood Tests

We provide blood tests at the request of the GP. A blood test is often done to check your health, or to find out why you’re having certain symptoms. It involves having a small amount of your blood taken for testing. This is done by our phlebotomist.

Useful guidance about blood tests

The NHS website gives useful information about blood tests and what to expect – visit Blood tests – NHS (www.nhs.uk)

Getting your blood test results

Blood test results are usually available after a few days. You are required to get your results; we do not routinely contact you. You can get your results by:

Hospital blood tests

We are now able to do blood tests on behalf of hospitals.
If you are asked by the hospital to have a blood test, please request a blood form from them & book an appointment with our phlebotomist. It is essential that you bring the blood form with you – otherwise our phlebotomist will not know what blood tests are required and they will have to cancel your appointment.

Private blood tests

We are unable to do private blood tests. If you require a private blood test, this can be done by Sussex Premier Health at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings. Call 01424 757400 for details or visit their website Sussex Premier Health | Private Healthcare, Sussex and Kent

Hospital Phlebotomy Teams

East Sussex Hospitals Trust have phlebotomy teams that you can use for your hospital blood tests or your GP blood tests. These are located at:
  • Bexhill Diagnostics Centre, 16 Beeching Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex TN39 3LJ; or
  • The Conquest Hospital, The Ridge, St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex TN37 7RD

You can book an appointment online by clicking on this link: Phlebotomy (blood tests) – East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (esht.nhs.uk) or by calling 0300 131 5560 (open Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 4.30pm).

You need to request a blood form from the hospital department or your GP and take this with you to your appointment so the phlebotomist knows what blood tests are required.
