What is the HAIRE project?

The HAIRE project ‘Healthy Ageing through Innovation in Rural Europe’ is a project funded by Interreg 2 Seas and the EU’s European Regional Development Fund. It is led by the Social Innovation Group at the University of Exeter and is currently scheduled to run until September 2022.

Robertsbridge and Rye were selected for the project, alongside other locations in Europe.

A small team of local volunteers, supported by East Sussex County Council and Rother Voluntary Action, have been interviewing older people and using the results to:

  • define what support they need
  • participate in the design and delivery of services
  • develop solutions for themselves, supported by the voluntary, private and public sectors.

Find out more about the HAIRE project on the East Sussex County Council website.
